about

I See You

I sometimes feel like we veil ourselves so people can't see our vulnerabilities; we hide who we really are and what we really love, and we forget to be who we actually are because something or someone tells you to be something that you aren't.  I don’t think finding yourself has to be difficult.  I read somewhere about letting the light shine in the cracks of your life because it's the only way you'll ever get to see any light.  What would happen if we let the cracks show, stopped building walls around ourselves, and allowed ourselves to just be?

Quiet Town was the working title of the album once Andre heard this song in the studio.  I do remember Andre telling me to play down the bridge… I have a tendency to want to build to a huge bridge and bust it back down for a final quite chorus.  "Keep it there, trust me."

So I did.

lyrics

Here I am with this old guitar, in this quite town in the local bar
I'll hold this notion near and far... Where ever you go there you are,

I walked as far as I could that day, what more could I do, what else could I say ya
Moving like the midnight star... where you go there you are.

The only way that I see light
Is though the cracks i once tried to hide
If hoping is as love strives to do
Then I see you… oh I see you.

Striving more to be who I am, not what they want, not the typical man ya
I can only be what made me me, simply live and always be.
